Phil Shortell, Director of The Fourth R of Salinas has been both
a Computer Sciences Professional, and an Educator for more than
thirty-four years. During that time, Phil has lectured in the United
States, Canada, England, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, and Israel.
He has been a featured speaker at annual conferences of AIIM
International (Association for Information and Image management)
AFCOM (Association For Computer Operations Managers) XPLOR
International, the Electronic Document Systems Association and
this year he was the Keynote Speaker for Staff Development Day
at the Salinas Adult School. In addition to his teaching experience
in computer science, Phil is a certified American Red Cross
First Aid, CPR and Sports Safety Training Instructor. He is also
licensed by the National Association of Underwater Instructors
at their highest field level of Course Director; the rating
given only to those granted the authority to certify individuals
as Dive Instructors. Active in the community, Phil is a member
of the Salinas Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, the Central
Coast Human Resources Association, is President of The Harden
Ranch Neighborhood Association, and a docent at the National
Steinbeck Center, Phil is a Microsoft Authorized Instructor and
is one of only one hundred thirty four people in the entire State of
California (just two people in Monterey County and the second trained
under Phil at The Fourth R) to be formally certified as a Microsoft
Office Master.
