John Beeman

John Beeman has been employed in the financial printing industry since January of 1991. In early 1993, as the SEC’s EDGAR program evolved from a pilot to an operational phase, Mr. Beeman began criss-crossing the nation to deliver seminars to both filers and filing agents alike on how to use the new system. Converting documents to ASCII using the then-brand new EDGARLink software, and assembling and transmitting filings to the SEC, were all part of the curriculum. Offering four separate training programs—from a half-day high-level Manager’s Course to a two-day hands-on Support Staff Session—Mr. Beeman sometimes conducted as many as a dozen sessions a month between 1993 and 1998. Today, working for Bowne, the world’s oldest and largest financial printing company, John Beeman continues to teach seminars on the ever-evolving aspects of the SEC’s EDGAR system.

On April 20, 2001 the SEC abandoned it’s ‘Legacy System’ – the method by which submissions have been filed since EDGAR’s inception – and moved to a new web-based delivery system. Later in 2001, the SEC introduced EDGARLink 8.0 to facilitate a web-based method for fee payments. These recent regulatory events have created a fresh need for new EDGAR training, and Mr. Beeman has responded by conducting West Coast continuing education seminars for attorneys and CPAs. He is committed to providing EDGAR training for filers and filing agents for as long as there is a need.

CCE is proud to be working with Bowne in presenting many of these programs.
